DECAMERON TILE

ABOUT

The Creative Decameron is a group of people who come together to share, create, and experience new ideas and projects.  Each person has 20 min to share something with the group, with a strong emphasis on interaction and participation.

Part show-and-tell, part workshop, part collective learning exercise, each Creative Decameron is unique.  Every attendee is expected to lead an activity, group project, or interactive experiment with the group. The event is a result of what we contribute.

INSPIRATION

Written in the 1350's by Giovanni Boccaccio, The Decameron is a collection of 100 novellas - individual stories "told" by 10 characters that fled to the countryside to escape the Black Death.

In the book, each of the 10 members of the party told one story each night, for 10 nights (resulting in 100 stories). Each day, one character would take turns being King or Queen and designate a theme for the stories that would be told that day.

Each character tells a tale from their unique personal experience and these stories not only entertain, but also enlighten others by offering new and different perspectives.

LEE & MAX

We've fallen off the creative wagon a bit, and haven't made time for personal projects or collaborations. This Creative Decameron is a fun way to bring people together to share and create, even if it's just for a few hours. We hosted a few of these in 2008-2009, but then life/work got even busier. Now we've picked the thread back up again and we're excited to have you join us!
